Piedmont Avenue Halloween Parade
And finally, there was a misty day parade for little kids in costume. There is usually a massive turnout for this, and it was still pretty crowded despite the weather. Its nice to get out of the house during a break in the hard rain. It was actually very nice, just a little gray. We ran into several of Ruby's friends. There is one picture of Isaac (dressed as Iron Man) and Maya.
Halloween is fun in Oakland, with this big parade, fairyland and so many friends.
Ruby is often not very interested in having her picture taken. And admittedly, there was a lot of that this week.

Fairyland
At Fairyland they had treat stations where Ruby showed her ticket and got little things to do or eat or play with. Here is Ruby getting her ticket stamped by a catlady. Ruby explored the three little pig's house and a tunnel with a waterfall. And at an art station she made a paper flying bat on a stick with mommy's help. We met some of her friends there too but didn't keep up with them. There was so much to see.
Halloween Party at Chloe's House
We used to have regular playdates with Chloe and friends so it was very nice to see everyone at this Halloween party.
Katherine sat all the kids on the couch to watch Yo Gabba Gabba so we could take pictures of them all together.
Ruby liked staying a bit later to play with Chloe one on one.
I'd forgotten what a big holiday Halloween is for little kids. We had a bunch of events and took a lot of pictures.
Ruby wanted to be a kitty family, everywhere we went.

Trick-or-Treat With the Daycare Gang
Lauren, the daycare owner, arranged for the kids to have a mini trick-or-treat on their street in the afternoon. The kids are very close so it was really great that they got to do this all together.
Ruby's good friends are Auggie and Clara (sister and brother, ladybug and lion), Juliette the princess, Ty the fireman, Chaitanya the octopus and Rafa the giraffe. There are a few more of her friends who we didn't get pictures of.
There are always creative art projects to do at Lauren's house. Ruby's pumpkin face is the yellow one in the upper right. She also made her trick-or-treat bag. Its purple, of course. Mommy is very proud of Ruby's artwork.
Usually Ruby happily sings along with the group (and sings the songs at home too). This time, with the camera on, she opted to retreat behind mommy.

Pumpkin Patch
Wow, we did a lot for Halloween this year. The pumpkin patch trip was just for mommy and Ruby this time. It was a rainy week but we tried driving over there anyway during a break in the weather. Luckily, we had a dry few hours and lots of fun. I'm not sure why it wasn't muddy, but somehow it was all just perfect.
They had panning for gold, animal feeding and of course pumpkins for sale in the patch. Ruby picked the biggest one and was so happy pulling it in the wagon. Mommy had to push it from the back too since it was heavy.
When we bought the pumpkin she asked if we could keep the wagon too. She was good at bargaining. However we still had to leave the wagon behind. It was soon forgotten during the excitement of pumpkin carving though.
